I don't recall posting about a filter helping my idle. Its been a crazy couple years. It's possible though, that it did help with idle at the time. I dented the tank badly back in '10 at the hammers. But that was 70K miles ago. I figure if the pump was damaged as a result to that, I would have noticed a long time ago. Though, it did cause me to have to bend the fuel pump bracket a tad so that I could get the pump in. Electrical connections were fine and strong when I pulled the pump out. The thing that might have actually been the cause of the issue? When I pulled the fuel pump bracket out of the tank, since it is bent, the pump doesn't sit on the bottom of the bracket to "hold" it in place. After a couple years of wheeling and the pump freely moving around, I believe the little 2-3" fuel hose that connects the pump to the metal line got loose. When the pump was doing its job the loose hose was letting the fuel go out of the top of that hose instead of up the metal line. Thus, no pressure. I decided that I didn't want to waste my time trying to get that line tight and button everything up just to find out that the pump really wasn't building enough pressure. So, I just put the new pump on, fastened it to the bracket, and went on my way. I'll keep the old pump and fiddle with it if (when) this vatozone one bites the dust. Quote:

Really, I'd just carry a spare pump. The tank isn't THAT hard to get out.

Thanks for the info on your situation.
I have done the inline pump thing several times on cars with failed in tank pumps but not on a Taco much less a Toyota. I will be doing a PM filter change in a few days. I will put my vacuum pump/gauge on the line from the tank and see just what it takes to move fuel thru the Taco pump. Actually moving fuel thru the system will be a better measure anyhoo. The price on the Vatozone unit seems reasonable, might just go that route. Edit After a little search, OEM Aisin pumps with screen can be had for about $140. That beats the heck out of around $253 from Toyota online shops.

The thing that tripped me out, and made me think I was getting enough fuel, was the fact that when the issue started I checked out my plugs and they were fouled out and wet with gas. That's why I started looking elsewhere. I realize I probably look like a dumbass for disassembling half of the truck and replacing $600 in parts before checking the fuel pump, but oh well. At least I have a brand new MAF and IAC, as well as a new to me ECM, and I can keep the old ones as spares knowing that they are still operable. Think I may wrap them up in tin foil and keep them in an EMP safe box JUST incase..

Hey Scuba I'm running the P0100 and110. What were your AFRs during your issues?
Mine is stuck at 14.6 and won't swing either way. WOT or throttle cut. Other codes and PIDs were swaying me towards MAF or A/F sensor replacement. Today I just got P1130 and 1135. A/F circuit or sensor. Still when I searched the 100 and 110 codes I got your thread. The fuel pressure is a common possible issue listed( as well as a few more) by the FSM for my codes. Made me wonder... Just going in circles for now. Asked it here and RST:http://www.rocksolidtoys.com/forum/showthread.php?t=444
