Went in to the local gun store to pick up my Remington 870 Ohio State Highway Patrol 12 guage that I had in layaway. AND its on sale for $269 instead of the $300 that it cost when I first put it in layaway...
While we were waiting for my background check to go through I asked the salesman "So, let me ask you the question that you probably hear 1000 times a day. When will the XDs be available?" to my surprize, he says "Well, we have one dispaly model. I can't sell it, but do you want to check it out?" Of course, I do. I'm checking it out, and he says..."Hmm....I didn't know that we had a bitone one in as well" So, I asked him..."Does that mean you can sell one, since you will still have one for a display model?" and he says he doesn't think so, be he will ask the manager....so, long story short, I ended up doing an impulse buy and getting the black XDs that I have been waiting for over a year for. I got it for $569, which was a tad high, but not too awful bad. I will be going shooting my new toys this weekend, but I gotta say I LOVE the way the XDs feels.

I've been thinking about getting into reloading. Manly just .223 at this point. I can get 20 rounds(Remington 55gr) at Wal-Mart or Dicks for around $8 a box. What is the set-up cost's? Powder, bullets, etc. to get going? I assume you guys that do it re-use your own brass?

Looks like a pretty smooth setup. Any advantages to getting a Dillon over that press at this point?
There are pros and cons to both....the pros that I was most interested in were the ease of caliber change. Takes less than 45 seconds for 9mm to .223 because of the sweet LNL bushings. And doesn't cost a shit ton for caliber conversions. The LNL bushings can be installed in any standard single stage (my RCBS Rock Chuker). The dies will never be adjusted again...lol!!
Other was powder drop. Don't like the Dillon slide dropper - used the Square deal - not accurate. I use my RCBS Uniflow for small rifle, and 2 Hornady droppers for pistol. My current case activated powder drops have measured beyond what I expected out of a progressive.
I used hornady bullet feeder dies and built 1/2" PVC tubes for bullet droppers....only thing you do is load empty cases and pull the handle - out comes a complete round every time. The bullet feeder die cost $40 + $2.00 in pvc...compared to a $400 auto feeder. I couldn't be happier.

Most importantly - all my reloaded ammo is more accurate than what I used to buy to plink. That is for all calibers - .223/9mm/.45/.308
Yea, re-use brass. I get a lot of mine free. My costs:
147gr 9mm subsonic: .08 cents rd
(was paying .21 cents rd)
.223 55gr hornady FMJ: .19 cents rd
(was paying .29 cents rd for cheap shit, would be .45 cents rnd for the same accuracy I'm creating)
.308 haven't calculated exactly -match only, 50% cheaper than Fed Gold Medal Match which is over $1.00 rnd.....
Initial start-up costs can be outrageous. But I shoot quite a bit. All of my presses and equipment has well been paid for. Then - I get to keep using it; Forever. Lifetime warranty on Hornady (hell, most reloading equipment these days).....you can't beat that.
Pistol is the easiest thing to load. The only brass prep is tumble.....then straight to the LNL....to turn into loaded ammo.
45 ACP got so expensive when I started shooting it more - I had to do something.

Sounds like the way to go. I'm going to research it more thanks!

I've been going back and forth between buying Dillon or Hornady myself also. Now that I'm shooting a lot more .45 ACP as well, reloading is definitely looking more promising. Other pistol calibers would be icing on the cake, but once I get more into rifles, (just starting my journey into the AR platform -God help me) reloading will be required as much as I like to shoot...

No matter what - either platform will have goofy flaws you have to live with/work out. I.E. - the primer systems on both the LNL and Dillon 650 have issues feeding sometimes (easy fix). It's not cookies and cream all the time....LOL...but everything is serviceable.
Get used to cleaning your firearms more....LOL....
If you have any reloading questions in future - let me know, I'd be happy to help. I've been down the single stage road - now the progressive.

Sweet Tikka - Bell and Carlson Medalist? I know....the Tikka stocks feel cheap - I've been wanting to upgrade to the B&C....nice shooting.
Yeah, it is the Medalist. Really like the way it feels. Had to do a little dremel work to the rear tang, then I bedded it in Marine Tex. I like the factory stock, but sold a scope and my rule is to reinvest taht money into guns, so i bought the stock just because.
^Sweet savage, never had a rifle dipped.

Any opinions on Windham Weaponry? A friend of mine just got a KISS AR for ~$700. (of course, now he has about $2500 in it after buying furniture and optics). It looks like a well built weapon. For those that don't know, Windham is a bunch of former Bushmaster employees that formed a new company when Bushmaster was bought out and most of the employees were laid off. So, the guns are very similar to Bushmaster with some tweaks to avoid patent infringement...

Markings aside, the guns are exactly like the bushmasters (except probably better QC since every company purchased by Freedom Group has gone to crap), there are no patent protections to infringe upon any more.
