I "think" I'm going to be fine. I'll admit, I haven't checked the door clearance but I have held the quarter fender up and it'll need a little bit of trimming to clearance but using the 1/4 panel from the 1 piece clip as a guide I "think" I'm going to be fine on the door. Also, that's beyond where it's going to bump. I clearanced for extreme case but it should never see that much. At least I hope! LOL You've got me thinking enough about it though now that I'll put the door on one of the next couple nights just to be safe!

Thanks for the post, I actually appreciate stuff like that cause I'm not perfect and sometimes others catch stuff that hasn't crossed my mind. I am a garage hobbiest for sure, far from professional!

Don't ask why I'm going in the order that I am... LOL I just am... Should have the roof done tomorrow night and maybe even the extra cab area also. If not, Sat for sure. Then just need to get gussets in place and off wit da roof for welding! Good times, lol, no clue what I'm doing when I get to that point as that'll be a first but I definitely have it all planned out in my head, hope it goes as easy as it seems!!! I HATE welding sheet metal though!

So is it pretty much official that we're pretty much the only ones making regular progress on our ride AND taking pictures to keep the threads updated?

Interesting comparison of the various stages of this truck...

Been a little bit slow lately on progress, I was out of town this past weekend and have house guests this week so I'm not living in the garage. I'm not super thrilled with a couple things on this but I'll clean it up and make it good in the end before all said and done.

It's the angle that makes the tubes in the center look lower then the outter ones...

Gonna prep the cut edge next and get the roof tacked back into place.

Obviously your skills can't keep up with mine.

I bolted in some coilovers

You're good. Nice truck. I can't wait to see it in action.

LOL, I'm not worthy!

But was it 104 degrees in the garage when you did that?

Thanks!

I hear ya on the temp. I did most of my welding in the summer here in Vegas and I think I lost a few pounds sweating. why the V-bar in the rear if you dont mind me asking? Id like to stop by and check this thing out some time.

If you want the honest truth on the rear V-bar... Cause it makes it look more finished and not so empty back there. It does tie in the center section of the cabcage too but it's 12lbs of overkill in reality.

Shoot me a PM if you want to swing by, I'm out there typically in the afternoons and weekends. I'm on the east side of town near Trop and 95 basically.

So help us win tires, seriously!

Search by name for Khris and Jason or search by popularity and vote for Khris's black Toyota and the Duece! Hopefully we stay on the front page!

Come on 3rd place!

Movin up in the world, have room for 2 now...

and a steering wheel to hold on to also!

Everything is tacked in place and set where I like it but I'm not going to do any finish welding till the end in hopes that by chance Jason can get out here to sit in it and give the thumbs up. That way it'll be easy to move around if he doesn't like the feel of how it's laid out.

Moving onto the shocks next I think since we don't have the peddle assembly yet to install and I'm holding off on fitting the dash till those are in.

Need more shock? It's obviously just mocked up right now but I'm pretty happy with about how everything is sitting here. I'm going to make a tiny adjustment still before making the real mounts but this is darn close. Shocks are clearing everything from full bump to full droop including steering from lock to lock and I checked the tire clearance at the firewall at full bump and full lock. Everything is good...

coilover is a 2.5 x 10, bypass is a 3 x 10. It cycled 17.5" last night using full shock strokes.

I put the coilover in first, it's 90 degrees with the pivots and it's 90 degrees at full bump to the plane from the pivot to the uniball. Then I put the bypass in. Because of how everything is laid out, basically what you see there is just where it's gotta be to clear the upper arm at bump, clear the frame at droop and clear the tie rod at full lock. It's not 100% ideal perfect but I'll put money it's going to work damn good! I think I'm going to fudge it a little bit and push the coilover out of perfection a little bit to make them visually more parallel.

Well, it might not look like much but spent the weekend doing more cycling and checking clearances. I buttoned up the upper control arm mounts now that I'm certain the coilover will clear and I got the passenger side in place. The lower shock mounts are perminant and welded up. I've got the first templates for the upper mounts done and if all goes well I should have the first of those mounts in place tonight and then I can start building the rest of them. Kind of a slow process but I'm taking my time making sure everything is clearing where needed and that the shocks are working the way they should be.

Anyways, pass side with uppers mocked up in place.

Well it was bound to happen eventually! I can honestly I haven't scrapped a single tube or plate other then a bit of reasonable trimming here or there. Well I screwed up yesterday. Not paying attention and a little distracted I messed up on working with my templates and well, I didn't get as much done as I'd hoped last night. Whoops... Kinda too big to fill the gap on! LOL

But I did at least still make some progress with what I did have that was usable... And I never claimed to be a welding god!!! I'm sure it'll hold though...

Just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who took a minute of their time to vote for our pictures! BOTH pictures made the final 10! The tv and iPads are super, but I've got my heart set on some new tires! Hoping for good news today!

Thanks again for everyone's support!

Sweet. my shocks are 10" so when i design a kit i should still be able to use them. A lot of other kits use 12" so i was kind of worried.

both of my shocks are inside my UCA otherwise they wouldnt have been parallel either

We had a conversation about the 10's versus 12's. Based on Khris's figuring, 12"s would have only marginally increased our travel, not enough to make ditching the 10's we already have worth it.

The only issue then was having to bring the upper mounts a little lower. But we figured if it worked here....

http://www.race-dezert.com/home/robe...ner-27533.html

10's will work just fine I'm sure!
