OK.
Let's try another angle on this. The following list was compiled from this ENTIRE site (yes, that means the TECH/FAQ section). There are holes every where. I'm just trying to fill them in. I can't fill them in because I don't have personal experience with ANY of them. That's where the helpful and cheerful members of TTORA come in. Many of you have aftermarket wheels on the target vehicle. Why 2002-2004? It is my understanding that these years are particularly difficult to fit because the calipers stick out more from the wheel mounting surface. If my understanding is incorrect, then please correct me. Why don't I just add this to the TECH/FAQ section? Because there is too much information missing (i.e. wheel widths, wheel models, and all important truck years) AND there are inconsistencies. For instance, you will find the rockcrawler 51 for a 2002 Tacoma in BOTH lists, though in the "fit list" no wheel size is mentioned. For those of you with PERSONAL experience with the following wheels, please fill in any information that's missing and add any detail you deem relevant (did you have to use spacers, grind calipers, install longer lugs, etc.) For your convenience I have underlined comments about missing information. **Please see CALIPER INFO further down in this post** Knowing which caliper you have (based on year, cab, drive, and engine of your Tacoma) may help you choose a wheel. Late model Tacoma 15" wheel fitment (primarily, but not limited to, 2001-2004) 15" Wheels that FIT: -Ultra type 50, 15x8, 3.75bs, 1995 Tacoma 4WD XtraCab, I4. -Ultra type 164 15x8 wheel...these do fit up to 04 tacomas -Wheeler's BLACK Toyota Steel Wheel, 15x8: TYPE A (no truck year given) -Wheelers 15x8 Black and Chrome, Type "A" and "B" (They all fit (2000-2004 4WD and Prerunner); they are engineered to fit without modifications) Provided by Nilson. Also see comments below. 2005 Tacoma Fitment Question: Does anyone know if wheels from a 2005 Tundra/Sequoia/4Runner will work on a 2005 4x? What about other model years of Taco wheels? I saw the Wheeler OffRoad site with the alloys that will work on other years but not '05. Answer: I saw an '05 with the split 5 spoke Tundra wheels on the other Tacoma site a couple of months back. Answer: The 'O5 has many platform similarities and shares many dimensions with the 4th Gen. 4Runner. The calipers are the same size, therfore the '05 has the same fitment issues the 4Runner does. Wheels that work on one will work on the other. -ProComp Xtreme Alloy 1079, 16x8x4bs, 285/75x16 BFG A/T, Tacoma 2005 4x4 TRD w/RevTek Lift 3" -Mickey Thompson Classic II, 2005 Tacoma. (no wheel size given) OTHER COMMENTS: For what they're worth... -US wheels 84's, 2004 Tacoma (no cab, drive,or engine given). had to grind the drivers side caliper down a 1/8" and about twice as much on the passenger side. go figure -US Wheel series 84, 15x8" 3,75" backspacing, 2002 Tacoma 4WD V6. here's the weird part....one wheel rubbed driver's side only, one wheel rubbed passenger side only, one wheel rubbed both sides, two wheels did not rub at all...4 were bought together brand new from Summitracing.com....one of the wheels that didn't rub was bought from a TTORA member...but it was still new and also from Summit..... -US wheels 84, 15x8/3.75bs didn't fit, 2004 Tacoma (no cab, drive,or engine given) -I used (1/4") spacers on mine to make it fit. They look good! (2000 tacoma, 15x10 Crager Black Steels, 4" bs -In 2003 and on, ABS was standard on EVERY tacoma. Funny. Pain to find before that. And now standard. -so the Rockcrawler Series 51 at 4wheelparts do not fit? nope, it hits the caliper. i tried it, both 15 and 16" (2002 Tacoma) (no cab, drive,or engine given) As always TTORA, thank you so much for your compassion to help others achieve what so many of you already have.

There is no difference in the calipers from 2000-2004. ABS calipers are no different. Some ppular steel wheel styles changed during this period of time causing many to think that the tacoma had changed calipers. This is a misconception. I suggest the list be kept to include only wheels that fit without modification to the calipers or the use of wheel spacers. To me that means they do not fit.

Add Pro-Comp Xtreme Alloys Series 1079/1069 15X8 3.75" BS fits on a 1999 Taco to the list. No mods needed.

The following is quoted from another post.
"Thats correct. As I mention and to clarify again. 2002 and newer Tacoma have the better brake system which is a 4 piston caliper instead of the 2 piston. This will rub, so don't shave the calipers. A simple spacer will work. This is for the 1079 Series Xtreme Alloys" Which was in response to: "On my 99 taco, I didn't need any spacers at all. They bolted up perfectly." And they were talking about: Procomp Xtreme 1079 15x8 This, and other comments on this site is the reason for THIS post, and two others, that received little, if no, cooperation. I suppose, Bryan, that I could treat your comments as gospel, buy a set of wheels that is said to fit a 2000, and see if they fit. And if they don't, eat the 400 plus dollars and buy another set. I could find a dealer that is willing to work with me (I've talked to several). But no dealer within a 50 mile radius keep that many wheels in stock. So, I'd still be ordering multiple sets, paying shipping on all of them, and I'd still be eating well over $100 in shipping costs. Please note, that the above quotes do not mention ABS although I guess it can be surmised that it was installed in 2000. Please, if you don't mind, verify whether or not the contents of the above quotes is true. NorcalPR - I will, thank you! CYi5 - That, or something similar, is my intent once I get enough info. Though, based on past experience, that may take a while.

Mike, I remember seeing someone with a 05 Taco with MT classic wheels on it, and I just saw one over the weekend. You may want to search and add that to your list

You shouldnt have any problems finding 15's or larger to fit your '99 (should have come with 15's), yet I do know the Pro Comp 97 series do not fit due to their ingenius hole punching technique. Other than that, you shouldnt have any problems that Im aware of.

Thanks NorcalPR. You don't happen to know what size MT, or whether or not they had to modify or use spacers do you? I'm trying to include as much info as possible so the most common questions are already answered.
I'll add it as a place holder until we get more info.

I'm not exactly sure. think it was a 16 but I could be wrong. He even posted some pictures of what it looked like.
My best guess is 16". It looked like it when I saw the one with them over the weekend.

I called my local Toyota dealer today.
I had them give me the part number for the front left caliper of an '04 Tacoma 4WD (#4775004040). I then asked him for the same part number, but for an '02 Tacoma. Same part number. I guess that's proof that a wheel that fits an '02 will fit an '03 and an '04.

Dug a little deeper. Here's what I found.
RC=Regular Cab XC=Extra Cab DC=Double Cab PRE=Prerunner SRU=Srunner VSC=Vehicle Stability Control These Tacoma's use the same calipers: LIST A 95-04 2WD I4(2RZFE) RC 95-04 2WD I4(2RZFE) XC 95-04 2WD V6 XC These Tacoma's use the same calipers: LIST B 99-04 2WD I4(3RZFE) RC 98-04 PRE I4(3RZFE) XC 01-04 PRE I4(3RZFE) DC 03-04 SRU V6 XC w/o VSC 98-04 PRE V6 XC w/o VSC 01-04 PRE V6 DC w/o DSC 95-04 4WD I4(3RZFE) RC 95-97 4WD V6 RC 95-04 4WD V6 XC 01-04 4WD V6 DC These Tacoma's use the same calipers: LIST C 03-04 SRU V6 XC w/VSC 98-04 PRE V6 XC w/VSC 01-04 PRE V6 DC w/VSC This one uses a different one than all the rest: LIST D 95-04 4WD I4(3RZFE) XC It seems to me that the VSC calipers are the only four piston calipers. As far as I can tell looking at the puny pictures. Edited: VSC calipers are NOT the only four piston calipers. I know for a fact that LIST B is a four piston caliper. Others may be as well. Added: According to Wheelers Offroad, if you have VSC no 15" wheel will fit. You must stay with at least a 16" wheel. Added: I've read comments about the hub center changing size for 2003+. Toyota's part number for the axle hub is the same for 2000 through 2004. The investigation continues... This information probably gives us a reason as to why some 15" wheels fit some Taco's and not others.

This also says, to me, that when listing what wheel fits, it is very important to list your year, model, engine, drive, & cab so we can put together a comprehensive list.
I will go back over my current list and update it with that info where I can. For those wheels that have enough info, I will add them to the TECH/FAQ section. It's gonna take me a few days.

i had 15x10 Weld Outback's on my 99. they fit fine but when purchasing you have to inform them that you need rims with a production date of September 2000 and newer. Weld had to hone(spelling) out the rim to fit over the tacomas large caliper. Rims from before that date will usually not fit.

Thanks NorcalPR. I appreciate that.
Thanks for the info tacoman13. I wonder if that means that before their 2000 change their wheels only fit those with the smaller calipers (2WD 2RZFE's and the one V6 xc)...

Mikev, i did some searching and found it for you:
http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum...ht=2005+tacoma Robothump states he has a 3" revtec with 1079 procomp alloys, 16" diameter with 285/75/r16 bmg all terrains. 8" wide rim. Seems like they fit. He said he used a very small spacer up front to stop the rubbing. Timeless white says a 4.25 backspacing will allow the clearance for a larger tire. Tacomike has the 16" MT classic 2's. Same tires and he reported some minor rubbing. Maybe you could PM these members for thier backspacing?

Thanks!
I add robothumps just about 20 min. ago. Got good info from ShowStop on the Ultra 50's, and just added that. I've also added a 16" section. I'm trying to keep it to just caliper clearance, since there are sooo many other factors for tire clearance, and that caliper clearance has been such an issue. I guess we could add rubbing comments while we're at it, if they are known.

NorcalPR, according to the caliper listing, the 1079's on your '99 should fit my '04.
robothump had made a comment about having to use a 1/4" spacer on some 1079 on an '02. I've asked him to give more detail about the '02. Hopefully he will reply. I'm really interested to see if the caliper listing crosses with the actual fitment of the wheels.

Thanks, but I don't think the diameter is going to be the problem (could be wrong...).
I'm more worried about the caliper clearance on the front. Where the wheel radiuses up from the mounting surface to the dish (or spoke). Of course, it wouldn't hurt to have that info!! I'm going to rotate my tires this w/e so I'll be able to get some good measurements.

Well, on the pro comps, it goes out form the face.
When I rotate the tires I'll take a measurement and shoot it over to you.

BTW Dustin. Take a good look at the Caliper Info. It may shed some light on what wheels fit your 99.
It's going to be interesting to see how wheel fitment crosses with the caliper list....(my opinion, of course)
