Default OCC 2009 Picture Thread

Post 'em here!

I don't have any. My camera never left the bag. Cory and Josh (silverback06) have probably enough to please anyone.

Great trip!

thats an understatment... i believe my count was just over 300 pictures.

also, we had some fatal carnage after we left. not even outside of Hot Springs Gary's front diff locked up. had to offload the cruiser, and load up the jeep. hauled it back for him and Will got to drive my cruiser all the way to Ft. Smith. Hows that for Toyota dependability, run 3's and 4's over the weekend, then drive it back Ft. Smith no problems.

I'm in the similar boat on the camera thing. Had it sitting out w/ freshly re-charged batteries . . . never got it put into the truck.

Colton & I had a great trip. On our way home, he proclaimed this year's trip to be the best of any we have ever attended ('06, '07, '08 and now '09). His stated reasons were more kids to play with, bigger trails, picking lines for me on Ravine, and driving the Loop.

Hopefully some folks did get some pictures, I was PO'ed that I left my camera at home.

I had a bad feeling that was going to happen. I asked him if you could unlock the hubs somehow, but you can't. I hope he didn't destroy anything too bad beyond repair.

From Gary:

I’ll send pics later but they don’t look as bad as it really is. My analysis says this is what happened:

1) Cross pin in D30 broke sometime during the day Saturday.
2) The pin broke at an angle right where it goes thru the carrier so there was some support there, but it was able to wiggle around enough to wallow out the hole which then created the complete disengagement of the locker.
3) The banging noise we had been hearing was not the locker occasionally snapping/slipping. It was the end of the crosspin bashing into the end of the pinion gear. Since the pin had broken at an angle, any time the pin would spin around to where both long sides touched it resulted in a pin that was too long. Did I mention that the cross pins are hardened?
4) After a few thousand revolutions a few chunks of the cross pin busted loose and began to make their way thru the bearings (Did I mention that the cross pins are hardened steel?). One carrier bearing race was split in half and may have even damaged the housing enough to call it scrap (although it’s probably good enough to use).
5) The cross pin slammed the pinion enough to put a burr on every tooth, however, no teeth are broken. A die grinder may clean this up well enough to make the gears usable.
6) Some teeth on the lockright had damage, but it may still be usable.
7) The hole in the carrier where the cross pin goes thru is now oval shaped.

Default "that's all of them!"

Excellent work!
I like you photographic technique . . . take enough pictures that you can pick & choose!
After looking through your collection, I've come to a conclusion. I have to drive slower going uphill. I'm pretty sure that most all the better pictures that are in this excellent collection are taken either sitting still or more importantly, while vehicles are 'ascending'. So, I got to drive slower going uphill . . . I'll get to choose more 'poser' shots of my 'skills' . . . oh well, maybe next time.

Cory, thax much for all you efforts getting these great shots. Let's wheel together again soon.

sab
