Back in NorCal (born, partially raised), and finally a Taco owner after wanting one since they came out! I've been a die hard "fast on pavement" guy except messing around in my old previous 2nd gen 4Runner that I sold years ago. the new Taco will probably see more offroad action though. Currently looking into my IFS lift options. Probably not going bigger than 3" and 32" for now, it's going to be driven up and down CA quite a bit for snowboard and surf and camping trips more than rock crawling on a consistent basis, so no SAS and 35s here. Debating OMe complete, or OME+toytec spacer for 3", or coilovers and All Pro 3" leafpacks...hmmm...

Just drop the coin on a set of coil overs and a set of leafs.

Yeah, I'm leaning toward that route. The question is, WHICH coilovers and leafs? there are quite a few options for both, but at the moment I'm thinking Toytec/Bilsteins in front and OME Dakars or All Pro rears. After ten years of different coilovers on my other cars, Ive come to learn that Bilstein valving is superior to most other "consumer" shocks. I'm very serious about my suspensions (just dropped $4500 on some JRZ double adjustables coilovers for my Evo) but only want what I really need for the Taco. Hence the hesitation on coilovers vs. OME 88x. Ease of installation besides leveling if i change bumpers/winch is a plus though. Decisions....

My personal preferance would be SAW's but thats the only CO's ive run before.
If you plan on running any kind of weight (bumpers, skids, slider or winch) CO's are the only way to go IMO. As far as rearsprings go, it depends on what you are looking for. Alcan can build whatever you want or wheelers offroad has a few different options.

Regarding coilovers, I'm more concerned with internals/valving that most probably are. I know there are plenty of coilovers with damping superior to that of most cheap offroad shocks (not that hard), but I've come to realize that there's a reason so many applcations use threaded collars on Bilsteins. It's because the valving really just is that good. Ive never seen inside an Icon, SAW, Camburg, Donahoe etc. but I'm pretty confident in a Bilstein.
I know this should be the last factor, but one of mine is whether or not I can get this gear installed before next weekend. Truck is gonna be loaded down with significant gear/weight, and I need something besides blown shocks and pussy street tires on saggy springs.

What ever u do, make sure you extend your bumpstops per the amount you lift the truck. It will prevent excessive wear.

Thanks for the info NorCalTaco. I'll have to look into that more, as I'm not sure exactly what it entails.
