Anyone going to be around the albuquerque new mexico area on the sixth of august. NMORL is putting on a race. Entering my taco in it. Right now there are 7 pre runners so cage and fuel cell are not required.

How would a lack of participants amount to a lack of safety requirements needed to race?

So in a way i was made fun of by several people including on this forum about racing without a cage. Ask yourself, do you wheel and make runs in your own vehicle where NO safety or medical personel are available.

I did not race with out a cage. we did not have time to complete a full cage, but we were able to get in a hoop and a door bars. In which case we were able to mount a mastercraft 3g and corbeau suspension seat and full 5 point harnesses.

The tech of this race was a joke. I showed up they checked to make sure both batteries were tied down properly. Made sure i had brake lights, and an amber and blue light. In which i had two police ambers, and one blue led flasher.

The entire race itself was setup for rock racers and the course was rough as hell. We started about 3hrs late, and they even started the race with someone still out on the course preunning lost as hell.

I did not place, as i did not have gps and came up on a road crossing faster than we had anticipated about 2 miles from the pits. We hit hard enough to shove the fan into the radiator breaking every blade and terminally damaging the radiator. We completed one lap which is more than the class 8 truck entered and 2 of the 3 1450 trucks. When we left there were only a couple class 10 buggies still running and several of the 4400 rock racers.

The website states that they follow brt rules strictly but from talking with several volunteers they are working with brt to make themselves bigger and are in the young growing stages. For a first time racer i was disapointed in how things turned out.

I Tototally agree with you casaus19.

I was out there to watch some of the rock racers and we waited forever. Buddy of mine was racing and he didnt even make it past pre-run. Tranny died. Just from my overall impression of the race unless you had gps, no possible way to navigate the course. Plus i think starting pre-runs at night was a bad idea. But overall thats desert racing! Unplanned happens and its brutal.

I know who you are talking about i think when u said that ur buddy lost his trans. didn't he hit a ditch or cliff and jack up his shoulder...

if i hadn't been trying to be a hero on the last stretch we would have done good. especially since we didn't have gps. but it would have saved me a bunch of money in repairs if i would have had it.

oh well next race right....
