I have a '98 V6 4x4 xtra cab auto and have noticed something weird with the air bag light lately.
Sometimes when I shut off the truck but leave the key in the "ACC" position to listen to the radio my air bag light stays on. Remove the key, turn back to ACC and the light remains on again. I know when initially starting the truck the light stays on for ~6 seconds, but this only happens when turing the key ahead one click. The light may do this for a couple of days, then it won't happen again for a couple of weeks. My light is on for 75% of my driving, and is due to another problem in the D squib circuit. I noticed the light coming on with the key in the ACC position last year also - way before my D squib problem. Anyone want to check their 98-00 to see what the light does with the key in the ACC position?

Mine does the same exact thing that you do. Not instead of being on 75% of driving, it's on all the time. I think the last time it was off was 3 or so months ago, and it was only off for about 50 miles.
It could be anything really. I'd take it to a stealer and ahve them diagnose it. -Phill

My is touchy sometimes also. When the light is on it means that the airbags are shutoff, so that they don't go off accidently.
