Default Future Tacoma owner with questions

Are there any websites and/or books that contain detailed information about what changed and what features were optional/standard for each model year of the Tacoma? For example:

- What does the Limited package include?
- What does the SR5 package include?
- What does the TRD package include?
- When was ABS optional/standard?
- When was ABS a 2-wheel versus 4-wheel system?
- Are there any particular years to buy or avoid (with regards to reliability, upgradeability, etc.)?
- What year(s) contained significant changes/improvements?

I am looking for a Tacoma in the 1995-2000 model year range (approximately). I want an automatic transmission, extended cab and four-wheel drive. Having ABS, power windows/locks and cruise control would be nice.

Thanks in advance for your advice and input.

go to www.carsdirect.com if it will let you build anything besides an 05, build a tacoma and it will show you what the sr5, limited and trd packages include.

"I am looking for a Tacoma in the 1995-2000"
- What does the Limited package include?

Top of the line. The fancy version with better seats

- What does the SR5 package include?

Above a work truck

- What does the TRD package include?

On a used truck; manual locking rear diff. and decals

- When was ABS optional/standard?

not sure, but in 2001 it was optional

- When was ABS a 2-wheel versus 4-wheel system?

Not sure what you are asking

- Are there any particular years to buy or avoid (with regards to reliability, upgradeability, etc.)?

Maybe the 1st year, but I've not heard any problem area beside seats and clock.

- What year(s) contained significant changes/improvements?

2001 is the BEST looking, mainly if you get gray. :-)

-I want an automatic transmission, extended cab and four-wheel drive. Having ABS, power windows/locks and cruise control would be nice.

I'm not sold on ABS, buy those wants sound like a good truck to have. BUT that rig is wanted by many people, so the prices are high, maybe higher than most want to pay.
