We are working on our front bumper for the FJ now. Please give feed back.
Here is what we have: Plate style bumper 1\8in thick material we may offer a 3\16in option (we don't see a need to weigh your truck down even more but it may be an option) winch plate and mounting brackets are all 1\4in thick. Two fog light or rock light holes. (we will make it with two light tabs on the inside so one set you can point them flush against the inside of the bumper useing them as rock lights The other mounting will be for facing forward like fog lights.) Two access points on both sides of the winch and a top access point. Or you can put lights in there? Shown with optional single hoop ![]() Ok and me and the guys are argueing over which optional side hoops look better. Let us know what you think left or right? ![]() ![]() Here is a shot with both the right side hoops. ![]() The bumper will be offered with or without the upper tubes. So you would have 3 options on the bumper style. 1)no hoops 2)single hoop 3)or all 3 hoops Last edited by cb77DEMELLO; 06-27-2006 at 03:32 PM. |

I don't really dig the gaudy DO advertising on the front, other than that, looks stout and the lines look good. I like the smooth 3 hoop.

![]() I like these hoops better. They seem to fit better with the lines of the front personally.

Will you have a skid that covers that cross member at the bottom?

my vote is for the straight eyes, but I personally like the no eyes light hoop the best. How about a horizontal slats vents for cooling where the "DO" is and maybe a smaller DO under the slats. It will give it kind of a mean look. Oh and will you offer the same textured powdercoating like the rocksliders. Might be kinda hot.

I think that once you powder coat it black the DO will not be shinny and say "look at me" as much as it does now being metallic and all. I see what you are saying about the normality of the slots, that is a very easy way out, how about amesh grille that mactches the OE one? not cost effective?
Edit: was there a reason you decided not to match the center section of the bumper up with the center of the grille? was it just a surface area thing, where you wanted more towards the center? Last edited by Hanzo; 06-27-2006 at 04:59 PM. |

I kinda like the funky eyes. I also like just the center bar. Any chance you will make a bumper for the 05 and above tacomas similar to that one? or would that be a custom item?
But as allwyas it looks great.

I'm not sure what you mean about the center section? Do yuo mean the tube? We tried to make those center cut outs like the turn singles so it matched the lines some how. |

Jason, you've got a winner there!
Persoanlly, I like the straight eyes- it looks tough, like it's scowling. The little round eyes look 'surprised' & meek... like it just got goosed. I also think the laser-cut DO in the front is cool as shit...not only a great logo design, but it really differentiates it from the crowd. Poo on whoever wouldn't be proud to pimp yer stuff!

Here are some more pics.
Here it is with a more filled in bottom section. No holes are on this one but we would put holes in it. ![]() Here is a picture of the current lower plate and the clearence, pretend that is a boulder ![]() ![]() Here it is with the other front piece. ![]() Here is a shot from far away? ![]() And here for those that were worried about the winch lining up here is a shot where the cable would come out of the bumper.

I like the 'Funky-Eyes' too. The straight ones look too H3-ish to me.
I personally like the DO placement on the front but to each their own on that one... Powdercoat that bad boy and roll with it!

I like it. It is not so much a "me too" look. It still provides as much airflow to the radiator and AC condencer as possible. The front cutouts are the contributing factor for these first two. I like the 1/8" plate feature for weight. So long as supports/ribbing exist behind 1/8 should be fine. 3/16 may be an easier path to a given strength but I like that you are looking for another way. I am not so much a hoop guy but I like the funky eyes hoops the best of those shown here. Maybe the central/main hoop vertical portion should more closely match the angle of the outer headlight hoop. Also the angle on this portion of the hoop clashes with the FJ grille. More vertical would better match the headlight hoop and the and FJ grille as well. Maybe the front openings and the "DO" could be a touch smaller. I like the funky eyes hoop picture showing the row of holes at the bottom. Other bumpers out ther do that and I like the look.
I do not have an FJ but I am looking at the aftermarket support as a/the major consideration for purchase. It looks like the aftermarket is really going to town on the FJ which is probably going to end up costing me a lot of money so maybe you should not be making interesting stuff after all. |
