im planin on doin a 4x4 conversion on my prerunner. i know, this may have been asked hundreds of times before but its just easyier to ask and get flamed rather than search threw hundreds apon hundreds of threads that have absolutly nuthin to do w/ my topic.

in a recent thread on doin a 4x4 conversion i read this

Link at the botton of my sig has a complete list. I completed my conversion in early Feburary.

You are also going to need the floor shifter plate with boot unless you want to attempt to cut yours open and buy the boot.
You will also need the interior plastics to go around the shifter console.

hey man sorry I missed your IM earlier, I was at work when I replied to this thread. The diff I've got is from a 95.5(I think) w/ ADD, but you can fix that to manual hubs if you want. Anyways, you can have mine as soon as I get it out for like $50 plus shipping.

No difference between 4x4 and PreRunner ECU's (both motor and transmission).

If you do some good reseach and do alot of the work yourself, you would be surprized that a Sas is not that much more than your current overhaul...
i hate how everybody says this. your sas cost you $4000. ifs 4wd conversion can be done for less than $1500. yea not much more is it, $2500 is alot of cheddar
Actually I could have done it for a lot cheaper... I rushed into some decesions and didnt do good planning just like I said above if you would have read a little more carefully.. so I ended up spending an extra grand I didnt have too. So if you had the choice between doing a Sas and doing a 4 wheel drive conversion the diffence is not really that much more. Plus the fact that Ifs components break all the time. So you have to figure in the cost of breaking shit all the time, that is if you actually wheel your truck.

So actually the differnce in price is about 1500... For what your getting, the Sas is more pratical. If you like racing your truck in the dirt or whatever thats fine. My point is if you do any kind of serious wheeling, its pointless to spend all that money for an 4x4 conversion when your going to be breaking shit all the time. Just go with the sas and save yourself alot of headache in the future.. Just my 2

Just my 2

ok so you were a grand over at $4k, so still, $3000 is DOUBLE $1500 simple math you know

on another note, some of us dont want a sac

i wheel the shit out of my truck with *gasp*, ifs and have never broken a cv or anything else 4x4 related. alot of it has to do with driving ability and common sense.
