Default Just scored a motor for the buggy!

I just scored a 4.7L I-Force motor complete with wiring harness for $200 bucks! Other than a bent connecting rod that I gotta replace the motor is in great shape otherwise. This motor was pulled out of an insurance job 4Runner that had injested a little water during Katrina!

So the buggy's gettin a Toyota V8! WooHoo!

Hell, get him to check on me one. I can't remember what year 4Runner this came out of but I can sure as hell find out if he needs that info.

The plan is to go through the entire motor...don't want to take any chances with something else being wrong with it and find out after the motor is already installed.

Sounds like a good deal. Hope it didn't injest too much salt water. Don't let it sit around or it will rot away. Tear it down and clean it out right away. When you get it cleaned out, spray it down with some penetrating oil then put some motor oil to it.

Look it over for corrosion before you hand over your dough. If you can, yank the oil pan and have a good hard look.

Well, it's already been sittin a while. The techs said they did pump the water out of it and then ran more oil in it and got it to actually spin so it has be relubricated since the water injestion. But I will be tearing it apart as soon as it's in my possession.

Oh yeah, I'll certainly make sure it's useable before any cash changes hands. The guy told me to come get and and I could pay him later. So I'll dismantle it and then make my decision if I will keep it or give it back to him.

Hey Shannon, once you get the motor you can run the VIN on the block to see what year it came out of. Now that you are at Toyota, you should have that access. If not, I can run it and tell you the year of the vehicle.

Well congrats ole friend and great find.

I just picked up a ford 302 C.I.D tonight. I am tossing and turning over putting it into a buggy or finding a mustang project to build around it.

couldn't pass it up for the price...Free! just had to go and haul it off! Got plenty of extra parts as well as it being 95% complete and running before the tear down of it a year ago.
